The BASS Cancer Center project included renovation of a 25,000 sq. ft. shell space into a Comprehensive Oncology Center & Neurology Clinic dedicated to elevating the patient experience and bringing a Cancer Center to the local community. The facility houses two adjacent Linear Accelerator Vaults, PET/CT, Hot Lab, Infusion Center with Mixing Pharmacy on site, Radiation Oncology Clinic, Medical Oncology Clinic, Patient Education Space, Conference Room, Reception/Waiting, and Restrooms.
UNIQUE ASPECTS
- Maneuvered within a 3 ft. crawl space to strategically place nearly 900K lbs. of lead above two linear accelerator vault
- Managed simultaneous projects under one roof while meeting a demanding schedule to have the 6,000 sq. ft. Neurology Clinic treating patients months prior to the completion of the remaining 19,000 sq. ft. Oncology Center
- Built a 1,300 sq. ft. platform, on the roof supported by steel columns more than 25 ft. long, that holds four chillers and the substantial boiler plant
- Identified imperfections in existing building structure including coordinating and executing the replacement of failed glulam beams integral to the roof system. This involved emergency shoring to keep the tenants safe and coordinated efforts to create the timeline for replacement
